About

Rider University

Rider University is a private university in Lawrence Township, New Jersey. Rider consists of four academic units: the Norm Brodsky College of Business, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the College of Education and Human Services, and Westminster College of the Arts (consisting of the School of Fine and Performing Arts and Westminster Choir College). Originally established in 1865 as Trenton Business College before changing its name in the early 1900’s Rider, the school maintains a strong reputation for having a well respected business programme. The business school has been included in the ‘Business Colleges of Distinction list’ for the 21/22 academic year. An accreditation only given to those institutions whose business degrees are multidisciplinary in nature and loaded with practical experiences for students to engage in the wider world of business.

The 280 acre campus is a suburban location between Trenton and Princeton. It’s a very accessible layout with all facilities within walking distance of each other and a free shuttle moving between the Lawrenceville campus and the Westminster Campus in Princeton. The Lawrenceville campus where students reside has a strong Greek life with 12 social Greek organisations operating. Overall, the university operates over 150 clubs and organisations, meeting the needs of all students.

Further to Rider’s business program, the Westminster College of the Arts has an extensive theatre program with people from all over the country coming for the quality program. For over half a century the theatre department at Rider University has had a rich tradition in educating students and preparing them for all aspects of a life in theatre; six productions each year give students a wide variety of experiences and opportunities.

Nicknamed the Broncs, Rider competes in the Division 1 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) for all sports other than wrestling win which it competes in the Mid-American Conference. Its American football team disbanded in 1951 and has had limited success in other sporting disciplines.
