About

Manhattan College

Manhattan College was founded in 1853 by the Brothers of the Christian Schools, a Catholic teaching order started by Saint John Baptist de La Salle. The Lasallian mission drives our focus on quality education for all and service to our neighbours in need. Our picturesque campus is located in The Bronx, a 35-minute subway ride from the heart of Manhattan, offering an escape from city life with easy access to the culture and opportunities of midtown Manhattan.

Manhattan College empowers exceptional graduates who not only go on to lead successful careers, but also make a positive impact in the world. Grounded in tradition, the transformative Jasper education is built on a strong liberal arts foundation and paired with hands-on, technical knowledge that evolves and adapts with our world. Guided by history, faith and strong leadership, Manhattan continues to climb in national rankings as a top-valued school. Currently offering degrees in 6 undergraduate schools, Manhattan College hosts over 60 programs, educating approximately 4000 students annually.

In 2019, Money magazine ranked Manhattan as the top "transformative" school in the nation in a study that took into account earnings and graduation rates to determine which schools help students succeed professionally.

The school competes in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) at the Division 1 level. It fields 19 athletic teams for men and woman including basketball, golf, softball and rowing. Historically, the track and field programme have the richest history amassing 31 of a possible 32 MAAC Indoor/Outdoor Track titles.
